Paragraphs in an essay - 工管

I've recently started to read some sample essays and hope to learn from

them how to organize my stories better, then a question came into my mind:


I have never seen any "subtitle" in any sample essay. Is it not the

usual way of English writing? Using a subtitle to highlight the main

point of a specific paragraph is one of my writing habits, but I'm not

sure if it's accepted in writing an application essay.


I appreciate if anyone can share his/her insight with me~
