I want to make it clear first - student visa holders are allowed to work. The only problem is the restrictions imposed are very restrictive. 1. Mostly school works, as this is the easiest (no USCIS prior approval is required). 2. Minimum wages only. 3. Yes. The reason why going outside and become illegal is money. Imagine you can only work at school for 20 hours per week and you make $8 per hour. Your monthly will be about $640/month before tax. If you become an illegal worker and work outside, like a restaurant, you can earn as much as $15-20/hour without tax liability and no hour restriction (so you can work weekend). I think this will tell the difference. 2014-04-27 15:51:34 補充: 值星官: The answer is yes. Being illegal does not mean you waive your statutory rights. Of course - once you start your wage claim process, you can be referred to ICE to deportation proceedings. 2014-04-28 02:19:14 補充: The answer is yes. U visa is available through this process.
留學生不能打工哪裡還有做什麼工作的問題.........校內工讀, 洗碗, 圖書館, 坐櫃台, research assistant. 福利沒有 薪資minimum wage usually. 2014-04-27 14:03:06 補充: What would happen if I get paid less than minimum wage? Can I go after them for back pay, overtime.....etc? Theoretically! 2014-04-27 16:46:32 補充: I'd imagine ICE and the judiciary system are separate in a sense, would you say the claimants typically have the chance to stick around until the matter is resolved before actually being deported? 2014-04-28 06:51:46 補充: Interesting info. Thanks! Not that I am in the situation :p

校內工讀名額有限、競爭激烈
校外的老中餐館挺樂於用黑工,便宜,比minimum wage還要便宜
福利? 哪來福利....
